The Animated Series' Showrunner Has Seen Your Season 2 Predictions — With Some Positive Updates

The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been widespread.

Season 1 presents a diverse group of personalities residing in the afterlife, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.

The fandom's stated hopes for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Could a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?

"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner stated recently. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

She reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.

That might mean viewers have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season moves, and how much of what they're anticipating happens this season.

"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."

She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.

"I've come across a couple people make a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."

Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on October 29.
