Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the team access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Seekers and Planners parties.
Viewers can expect discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
