Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police say they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Police then located many other marked vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests indicate the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
City officials said they were working "to resolve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.
An important official stated the incident rendered him speechless and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine people by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in five years prior.
